Maximum Daily Loss and Maximum Account Loss
2-Step and 1-Step are subject to two separate limits: maximum daily loss and maximum account loss. Reaching either limit triggers action under Account Termination Rules. Instant has no maximum daily loss limit, but its maximum account loss limit applies at all times and changes after the 5% profit milestone.
| Product | Maximum daily loss | Maximum account loss |
|---|---|---|
| 2-Step | 5% of initial account size | 8%–10% of initial account size, depending on the purchased plan |
| 1-Step | 3% of initial account size | 6% of initial account size |
| Instant | None | Initially 10% of initial account equity; the threshold changes when the 5% profit milestone is reached |
WARNING
The 2-Step maximum account loss is not 10% for every plan. Check the percentage shown for your plan and account. For Instant's calculation, see Maximum Account Loss and the 5% Profit Milestone.
Maximum Daily Loss: 2-Step and 1-Step
The daily limit is initial account size × the product's daily loss percentage. It does not change with the day's profits or current account equity. The system calculates the day's result in real time using UTC+8 calendar days:
Daily loss calculation
Today's combined result =
today's net realized P&L
+ unrealized P&L on all open positions
− the payout-related profit buffer removed today
Daily loss limit = initial account size × maximum daily loss percentageNet realized P&L includes trading P&L, charged trading fees, and settled funding fees. The limit is triggered when today's combined result is equal to or below the negative daily loss limit. An order that has not executed, or margin reserved for a position, is not itself a trading loss.
Before the limit is triggered, you can think of the remaining daily loss room as daily loss limit + today's combined result. If the limit is 300 USDT and today's result is −200 USDT, 100 USDT remains. If today's result is +200 USDT, the current room is 500 USDT. This is not available margin or an amount you can request as a payout. It changes as unrealized P&L and fees change.
At 00:00 (UTC+8), a new daily calculation begins. The prior day's net realized P&L and any payout-related profit buffer removed that day no longer enter the new day's calculation. Open positions remain open, and their unrealized P&L still counts. An overnight unrealized loss uses some of the new day's loss room; an overnight unrealized profit increases the room at that moment.
Example 1: An Open Position Can Trigger the Daily Limit
A 1-Step account starts at 10,000 USDT, giving it a 300 USDT daily loss limit. Assume no earlier loss, no payout effect, and that the figures below already include relevant fees.
| Today's net realized P&L | Unrealized P&L on open positions | Today's combined result | Outcome |
|---|---|---|---|
| −200 USDT | −80 USDT | −280 USDT | 20 USDT of daily loss room remains |
| −200 USDT | −100 USDT | −300 USDT | Daily limit reached |
In the second row, account equity is 9,700 USDT: the 200 USDT realized loss plus the 100 USDT unrealized loss. This is still above 1-Step's overall loss threshold of 9,400 USDT, but the daily limit has already been reached. Balance is about 9,800 USDT. Do not confuse balance with equity: an open position's loss counts before that position is closed.
Example 2: An Overnight Loss Still Counts After Midnight
A 2-Step account starts at 10,000 USDT, with a 500 USDT daily limit. At 23:59, the prior day's net realized P&L is −50 USDT and an open position has an unrealized loss of −400 USDT. Assume the position and price do not change at midnight, with no new fees or payout effect.
| Time | Realized net P&L counted for that day | Unrealized P&L still counted | Combined result | Daily loss room remaining |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 23:59 | −50 USDT | −400 USDT | −450 USDT | 50 USDT |
| After 00:00 | 0 USDT | −400 USDT | −400 USDT | 100 USDT |
The position does not close automatically at midnight, and its unrealized loss does not reset to zero. If the loss grows to −500 USDT on the new day, with no other changes, the new day's daily limit is reached.
Example 3: The Same Equity Can Leave Different Daily Loss Room
Consider a 2-Step account starting at 10,000 USDT, with a 500 USDT daily limit. Assume no other P&L, fee, or payout effect after midnight.
| Account state at 00:00 | Today's realized net P&L | Unrealized P&L | When the new day's daily limit would be reached |
|---|---|---|---|
| A position closed yesterday for a 1,000 USDT profit. Balance and equity are both 11,000 USDT. | 0 | 0 | After another 500 USDT net loss today, the combined result is −500 USDT and equity is about 10,500 USDT. |
| Yesterday's position is still open. Balance is 10,000 USDT and unrealized profit is 1,000 USDT, so equity is 11,000 USDT. | 0 | +1,000 USDT | If the position remains open and its unrealized profit turns into a 500 USDT unrealized loss, today's combined result is −500 USDT and equity is about 9,500 USDT. |
Both accounts start the new day with the same equity but different types of profit. Yesterday's realized profit no longer enters today's daily loss calculation. Unrealized P&L on an open position remains in the calculation and moves with the market. Check both today's combined result and current equity; the two loss limits apply simultaneously. New fees and funding charges are excluded from this example but can change the actual trigger point.
Example 4: Profit From a Closed Trade Provides Loss Room Only for the Same Day
A 2-Step account starts at 10,000 USDT, with a 500 USDT daily loss limit. A trade is closed for 300 USDT of net realized profit, with no open position or payout effect:
| Time | Net realized P&L counted for the day | Combined result | Current daily loss room |
|---|---|---|---|
| After closing, before midnight | +300 USDT | +300 USDT | 800 USDT |
| After 00:00 on the next day | 0 USDT | 0 USDT | 500 USDT |
The 300 USDT profit increases loss room on the day it is realized. It remains in account balance and equity after midnight, but does not remain as a buffer in the next day's daily loss calculation. It also does not move the fixed maximum account loss threshold.
Example 5: Overnight Unrealized Profit Still Counts and Becomes Realized P&L When Closed
The same account has 400 USDT of unrealized profit at 23:59. The position and price are unchanged at midnight:
| Point in time | Net realized P&L counted for the day | Unrealized P&L | Combined result |
|---|---|---|---|
| 23:59 on the prior day | 0 USDT | +400 USDT | +400 USDT |
| After 00:00, while still open | 0 USDT | +400 USDT | +400 USDT |
| After closing on the new day | +400 USDT | 0 USDT | +400 USDT |
Ignoring new closing fees and slippage, changing the profit from unrealized to realized does not count it twice. Actual results include the applicable trading costs.
Example 6: A Payout Request Removes Part of the Same-Day Profit Buffer
Assume a 2-Step account has closed trades for 1,000 USDT of net profit today and has a 500 USDT base daily loss limit. A 600 USDT payout request is then created successfully and the amount is locked, with no other P&L that day:
Daily loss room after a payout request
Combined result before payout = +1,000
Same-day profit buffer removed = 600
Combined result after payout = +1,000 − 600 = +400
Daily loss room after payout = 500 + 400 = 900The payout request is not treated as a trading loss. However, same-day positive profit included in the request no longer provides daily loss room. If the request exceeds the available same-day positive profit, only the profit buffer that actually exists that day is removed. See Payout Amount, Profit Share, and Account Balance for amount locking and same-day or later returns.
Example 7: Trading and Funding Fees Can Bring the Account Exactly to the Limit
A 1-Step account has a 300 USDT daily loss limit. Today's net trading loss is 280 USDT, with 12 USDT of trading fees and 8 USDT of settled funding fees, making realized net P&L −300 USDT. Reaching the limit triggers the rule; the loss does not need to exceed 300 USDT. See Orders, Execution, and Fees for the applicable charges.
DANGER
Thresholds are evaluated in real time. Once the day's combined result or account equity reaches an applicable loss threshold, a later market rebound does not reverse the trigger.
Daily Loss Alerts
For 2-Step, the account's alert level depends on daily loss used as a share of its limit: below 80% is normal; 80% or more prompts a risk alert; 90% or more is high risk; 100% or more triggers the limit. A real-time alert at the same level is not repeated within four hours, but a higher-level alert may be sent.
At 23:30 (UTC+8), the system also estimates the risk after midnight using unrealized P&L on open positions at that time. The estimate excludes that day's realized net P&L and payout-related profit buffer. An alert does not itself close positions or terminate an account. The account's actual status depends on real-time data after midnight. 1-Step traders should also monitor remaining daily loss room; Instant traders should monitor the applicable maximum account loss threshold.
WARNING
Alerts may be delayed or fail to arrive. Check current equity, thresholds, and remaining room on the account page. Reaching a threshold is handled under the rules even if no alert arrives.
Maximum Account Loss
For 2-Step and 1-Step, the overall loss threshold is fixed. It is reached when real-time account equity falls to or below the following level, and Account Termination Rules then apply. The threshold does not reset at midnight or rise with profits.
Maximum account loss threshold
Initial account size × (1 − maximum account loss percentage of the purchased plan)Example 8: An Account Can Reach the Overall Limit Without Reaching the Daily Limit
For an initial account size of 10,000 USDT:
| Product or plan | Maximum account loss | Fixed threshold |
|---|---|---|
| 2-Step, 8% plan | 8% | 9,200 USDT |
| 2-Step, 10% plan | 10% | 9,000 USDT |
| 1-Step | 6% | 9,400 USDT |
Suppose a trader has a 2-Step plan with an 8% limit. Losses over earlier trading days total 600 USDT, and today's net loss is another 200 USDT, with no open positions or payout effect. Today's 200 USDT loss is below the 500 USDT daily limit, but equity is now 9,200 USDT. The maximum account loss threshold has therefore been reached. Use the percentage for your purchased plan; neither example percentage applies to every plan.
Instant: The Threshold Changes at the 5% Profit Milestone
If Instant starts with 10,000 USDT of equity, its initial threshold is 9,000 USDT (10,000 × 90%). If equity first reaches 10,500 USDT, the new threshold becomes 9,975 USDT (10,500 × 95%) and stays fixed. If equity is above 10,500 USDT when the milestone first triggers, use 95% of the actual equity at that moment; do not automatically use 9,975 USDT. The limit is reached if equity later falls to or below the applicable threshold. Instant has no maximum daily loss and no midnight daily loss reset. See Maximum Account Loss and the 5% Profit Milestone.
